Our Story
by Ford Ector, Owner
It all began in 1982, before the invention of computer routers. The old band saw cutting of individual letters was just too slow.

“The way to solve any problem,” my dad advised, “is to turn it upside down and inside out. Just get a different perspective on it.”

Upside down! The light came on in my head, and soon I had attached a router to the bottom of the table. From templates with a pen router, I started making letters faster than any sign company I knew. My first wholesale sign company in Charlotte, NC, was born and christened RAE Enterprises (Ralph Alford Ector).
Over the next few years many new and exciting ideas were developed. For example, we developed a press to create Rocklite foam sheets. I also came up with a method of applying metal and plastic laminates to the face of EPVC and sign foam. These ideas and others were very successful.
In 1987, I married Lisa, the love of my life. Afterwards many changes were in store, including the birth of my firstborn daughter a year later. We moved to Springfield, MO, and RAE Enterprises became Sign Reflections Inc.
The trial of relocating was more than I had anticipated, but with much answered prayer, we made a go of it. After hard work, over time Sign Reflections Inc. acquired many faithful clients there in the Ozark region. The business, along with my family, grew and after seven years and four more children, we decided to relocate again. This time we moved everything to Athens, Tennessee.
We are still thankful for that move. Here in East Tennessee, we have seen many of our dreams become reality, including the construction of a larger production building, and, I guess this is the place to mention it, the birth of two more children, and now grandchildren.
Watching our ideas develop and succeed continues to inspire us. Our Hotseal idea which began in Missouri has grown into the newly completed Hotseal manufacturing facility here in Athens. We are ever looking for ways to improve our services to you.
My dad’s sage advice, “Turn the problem upside down!” has guided me all the way. As a result we have accumulated knowledge to provide you with the kinds of great products and services that many have come to rely on.
